Yoga and Pregnancy

I am 17 weeks and just began doing gentle yoga. I workout about 4-5 times a week, but yoga is a new thing. One of my friends told me that there are certain positions that I shouldn't do because it can shift the baby... is this true? I can tell the difference between what hurts and not, and know not to do those, but she said some basic moves are not good. Do you guys know what to do/ not to do?

  • You might consider going to prenatal yoga classes or get a DVD or book on it.
You can even Google online, I have shared stretches positions that way in the past.

    Good luck!

  • I think the inverted poses are out for you for obvious reasons. I also think any positions lying flat on your back are not recommended.

  • I would also recommend doing prenatal yoga rather than the "normal" yoga.
