Is it okay they are eating this much?

I have 2 5 year olds. They are CONSTANTLY eating! They eat breakfast, 2 snacks, lunch, 2 snacks, dinner, if they eat all of their dinner they get a special treat and usually eat another snack before bed. They are both really thin and very active. I don't know if they eat so much since they are so active, or if they are eating just to eat. It worries me because I struggle with my weight so I make sure a few of their snacks are low-calorie like carrot sticks and celery. I don't want them to struggle like I do, but I also don't want to cut them off from eating a lot since they are not overweight....

  • My daughter was the same way. She is 14 now and still very thin and very active. She grazes all day long. i think that is what keeps her metabolism up.

  • If they are active , not over weight, and eating healthy foods then no there is nothing to be concerned about. Kids have crazy high metabolisms, eating small meals frequently throughout the day is technically better for blood sugar levels anyway

  • If they are active and a healthy weight and they are eating healthy foods like fruits and veggies, I would let them eat when they are hungry.

  • Just make sure they are eating healthy foods and if you are concerned asked your kids doctor.

  • If they are active, they are burning off calories as fast as they take them in. I'd still just have healthy foods, keep sugar intake down, but not worry unless they are really underweight.

  • I'd say go for it. As long as the snacks are veggies they should be fine.
