  • That's really sad. My church does accommodate for autistic children and adults.

  • my son has autism and he has attended church with my mil. If the church you go to does not welcome him, or asks he not attend their services then it is time to find a new church--- one that practices compassion and understands that church should be open to EVERYONE...(not just "normal" people/kids), and that they accomodate those with special needs.

  • I was going to post almost exactly what MizLee said. Church should be a place someone can turn to for comfort, not feel excluded

  • Nope. In fact I was once told I was welcome to join as long as I left my autistic sons at home. I've not so much as stepped inside a church since. If my kids aren't welcome I'm not either.

  • We have 2 families in our church, each has an autistic child. They are welcomed, understood, and the kids & families rarely miss a Sunday. i think it's sad when churches can't "deal with" one of their memebers having something that makes them "different" and they can't take the time to learn what's wrong and hwo they can help.
