Why are people lazy & do not follow base orders to secure outside equipment when there is a Typhoon on the way?

We were all given plenty of notice yet there were many who just didn't get off their butt. There is a reason we are to secure things. It's for everyone's safety. Thankfully Kadena was not hit too bad. We have trees down, sheds destroyed, trash all over. There we most certainly things that could have & should have been secured. Guess they figure we love to pick up their stuff that they could have easily put in the concrete sheds we all are provided. Hopefully next time people will actually do what we are ordered to do.

  • We were in Hawaii stationed at Pearl Harbor when Hurricane Iniki hit. Every single family that did not follow base/housing orders were kicked out of housing. You can bet the next time they gave orders EVERYONE complied. I don't understand why people even have to be told.

  • Not much different here in the US. It's pointless to batten down the hatches when a Tornado is headed at you but the same should be done when a hurricane or big storm is heading our way. Usually people are good at getting ready for it but some just ignore the warnings and end up in a mess or worse.

  • I wish housing would kick them out. It's going to be a long Typhoon
