Frozen carrots not digestible? do they even use real carrots. pretty tmi poop talk.

last night we had some mixed frozen vegetables. you know the bag that has the green beans, corn, peas, and carrots and those carrots are cut into barely quarter inch cubes. well i fed some to my 10 month old, she chews so we don't puree anything. she eats real food. this morning her poop was loaded with corn, which i expected since the human body doesn't digest the corn shell, but there were the carrot pieces in there too. not digested at all. now i know science and stomach acid can pretty much break down anything. i was about to tell dh, i said "by the way you know how we had vegetables last night? well her poop..." "wait did you find carrots in her poop?" yeah, why?" "cause there were carrots in mine this morning".....so he didn't digest them either. i haven't pooped yet since i do every other day and today was a no poop day so i guess we'll see. neither has a digestion problem so i'm wondering, does the human body digest carrots? are they even real carrots in the frozen veggies?

  • Carrots are very hard to digest. That is why they are a "free" food on many diets. It takes more calories burnt to digest them than they have in them.

  • I find all kinds of undigested stuff in my kids poop. Blueberries, olives, etc. The digestion of things includes chewing them thoroughly, which most young kids don't do very well. It takes a while before they start masticating properly, probably around 4 years old.

  • carrots go right through you. i feed dd purreed carrots, and her poop comes out orange. it's just the way carrots are. our daughters are the same age. you're doing fine, mama!

  • i know i'm doing fine. why does everyone keep thinking i'm concerned? i'm not. i was just wondering if the human body doesn't digest carrots the same way it doesn't digest corn. it's a science question. it has nothing to do with my daughter. i was just using her as an example, dh was an example too. why don't people read thoroughly
