  • A good objective shows what you can do for the company. Don't put what you will get out of it. Just what you have to offer them. Make sense? Make them want you. I can look through my Career Management book if you need examples ; )

  • Rather than an objective, start your resume with a great summary. The summary should be 2-3 sentences, that tells the reader what you can do for the company you are applying to.

Things to avoid in a resume Summary are:

    -- corporatespeak (boilerplate) language
    -- abstractions and generalities
-- lists of disembodied Skills and Competencies
    -- lists in general, and
-- self-praising words like Strategic, Innovative, or Savvy

  • Leave the objective off.
