Does your cat chew on anything?

Our kitten chews on everything, like a dog. He likes cardboard & plastic & books. He has ruined many things with bite marks. He seems to be doing less of it as he gets older, though.

  • Our male cat has always enjoyed chewing on anything that resembles string/yarn. We can't use icicles on our Christmas tree because he literally eats it. We have a picture of him at his first Christmas running around with it coming out of his bum and we called him 'Tinsel Tush' all season because of it.

  • I have to cat proof my home because they chew on anything. The main thing that they do is scratch on the door facings. Every door facing in the house is getting splintered up.

  • One of my cats loves chewing/eating weird things. We can't use ribbons on gifts because she will eat them and choke. And right after choking, she will go right back to eating the same thing. We have pulled four feet of ribbon out of her mouth before.

  • Your kitten may be teething. The baby teeth fall out just like with people and when the adult teeth come in they chew on things to help the process.

  • Oh please don't let them chew on string or rubber bands or yarn. If they swallow it they can get blocked and it can be very very serious-keep the string and yarn and rubber bands away form them.

  • My cat chews on the shower curtain of all things. Shes almost 2 years old and I don't know why she does it, she's just a weird cat. She doesn't chew on the actual curtain just the liner.

  • It's teething & it will pass (hopefully!) :-) My little girl loves to chew on the laces in my sneakers, & she does it every morning after she eats. I asked her one day if she was flossing. lol! She doesnt really "chew" on them; more like flips them around in her mouth for a few seconds & then done.
