Is this an Asperger's trait or just how my son talks..?

I can't seem to find any info on it. He makes a lot of 'filler linguistic sounds' like eh, um and mmm. Like 'Mmm mommy, eh, can I have something to eat?'

  • He is almost 7. He does a lot of stopping and starting when he speaks with little interjections. Like you really want to say 'get to the point!" lol. I juist didn't know if this was common for his diagnosis or something else all together. I have been looking stuff up. It sounds like speech cluttering to me.

  • no he has never had a problem with inflections. He is more socially awkward and has personal space issues as well as some motor delays. I never noticed his speech patterns until the last yea or so.

  • I don't think it's an aspergers thing per se. I know a lot of kids who do this who are not on the spectrum and I know a lot of aspergers kids who do not do this.

  • Look up cluttering speech disorder. See if that describes what you are hearing.
