Where did you guys get your area rugs and where can I get them at a reasonable price?

  • I am going to agree with flea markets, garage sales, etc. Try also craigslist if you have one in your area. Might even pt an ad in the local free paper.

  • I have a beautiful one in my family room that I ordered through the JC Penney catalog about 5 years ago; ran about $600. Thick and soft underfoot.

    I have a gorgeous one in our living room; oriental style, that we bought from an import store. Ran about $2,000 nearly 12 years ago; it is insured since it is a quasi-antique. It is, first and foremost, beautiful, but it is so incredibly silky and soft, I wish I could sleep on it!

    Have an aubusson style (french) rug that I purchased on Ebay for $1,200 too.

    You can find area rugs nearly everywhere ... TJ Maxx, Target, Home Depot, etc. but they're "cheapy", both in look and in feel.
