Oh lord the screaming

my 16 month old son keeps screaming in public very loudly how do i get him to stop he isnt mad or upset when he starts screaming like this just overly excited i just need some advice to help calm it down a lil im happy he is excited i just want to do with out the loud screaming lol

  • hahaha make a game of it?! Practice inside and outside voices. Volume control is a HUGE thing for me. We started pretty early with that one! When he's screaming, whisper to him. He'll have to stop screaming so he can hear what you're saying.... you can whisper anything he would understand...."whatchya doin buddy? What do you see? Isn't that cool?!?!" but whisper softly....

    When he's not going nuts in Walmart, play a game. Say "shhhhhh" and whisper mommy loves you... then say "AHAAAA!!!!" really loud and shout "MOMMY LOVES YOU!!!" or whatever catch phrase you wanna say (with one of my kids it was "stinker bug!" lol). Teaching them that "shhhhh" means it's time to be quiet is pretty easy, and really effective!!!

  • It's what they do at this age. You can try distracting him but at this age you may just be better off doing your shopping alone
