How old was your LO when you started giving him finger foods such as little bits of veggies, fruits, cheerios, pasta, etc etc?

My 8 month old does NOT like baby food. She wants whatever she sees on everyone elses plate. Right now I have a bunch of stage 2 foods in there, and when I get low I'm going to get Stage 3, but lately we've been cutting up veggies, pasta, etc for her and letting her eat that while we eat, otherwise she's just whining looking at our food LOL. I don't remember my older daughter getting into finger foods this young! My 8 month old has 4 teeth, so my mom and my MIL both think its' fine, but just wanting more opinions....

  • My daughter is the same way...she doesnt really like baby food but she started eating table food around 6-8 all depended on how many teeth she had @ the time

  • We didn't do much baby food and just fed directly from our plates. After that 6 month mark I just waited for signs that they were interested/ready for foods. At 8 months and showing interest I'd just skip the baby foods and feed her real food.

  • My DS wasn't huge on puree's or anything liquidy (still isn't) so we started finger foods at 7 months. I think 8 months is perfect to start! :)

  • Oh and generally speaking the first teeth that babies get are their top two and bottom two, neither of which are used for chewing so you are absolutely fine giving finger foods :) Puffs, peas, and soft sweet potatoes are a great start! :)
