Family beaches in texas?

we moved to Texas about 3 years ago from pa and want to explore some other areas here b4 we move again. Any recommendations for a great family beach weekend getaway? We grew up going to beaches for the day in jersey, where they have boardwalks with restaurants and plenty of fun activities for kids. Any place like this in tx? Or anywhere you think we should visit and see before we leave? Def need to go somewhere that the kid (almost 3 and 21 months) can enjoy. Thanks!

  • Well the only good beach in Texas is Padre. Ive never been but the water is suppose to be really nice. All the other Texas beaches that I know of are brown. It all depends on where you are. If you're around Galveston go to Kemeah Boardwalk which is a lot of fun.

  • Galveston is the closest to me, so that's usually where I go for a quick trip, though eisleysmommy is right that Padre is much better. Be prepared for some not-so-nice looking water :(

  • We had a lot of fun going to Port Aransas & Corpus Christi. There are a bunch of great little coves on PA that are family-friendly.

  • Where in Texas do you live? It might make a difference in the recommendations. I second the Kemah boardwalk suggestion.
