  • there is weed killer u can buy from a store... try that.. since theres no grass u dont have to worry about that dying. then once all the weeds are dead u can plant grass seed... depending on the size of pool u might want to leave an area w/o grass bc u need to lay the pool on sand. even it out too :) GL.. (also if the weeds r still long and just annoyin u can weed wack them before u kill em so u can walk around)

  • lol We had the same issue when we moved in to our house. My husband eventually just killed off everything back there by chopping down as much as he could (borrowed his dad's tractor), sprayed weeds, and then reseeded. It was a mess! How old are your twins? Would they be satisfied for a wading pool for this summer?

  • Well if you want the extreme, I'd get a riding lawn mower to mow it down, then till it and get it to dirt, remove as many roots as you can and plant grass or re-sod it. Either way it's not going to be a cheap fix.....no house is immune from being a "money pit"

  • well its good you trimmed them down but if your talking those pickly weeds, you might have to dig them up from the root. That won't garauntee grow back if you plant grass, you cant have a pool. use extra carpet under the pool if you want to put the pool there, thats what we did.

We have horrible areas where its nothing but weeds but we do take the time to dig them up and replant grass and then shrubs and using blocks to decorate it up or you could buy those tiny red rocks and make rock gardens to cover it all up too.

  • Hire a landscaper to clear all that out for you. It may be expensive but they should be able to get the job done correctly and efficiently.

  • two options.. 1 re-til it and plant some grass seeds 2- get a landscaper to roll down some grass and let them make room for the new pool by adding in the rock and sand base, maybe even a deck for the pool..

basically either spend less work more and do yourself, or hire some else to do it faster.

  • If you put down weed killer, you won't be able to plant grass seed ~ that will also die. Sorry, but there is no 'easy' fix to this. Cut down the weeds as close to the ground as you can. Pull the ones that you can get ALL of the roots out. Cover the yard with black plastic for about two weeks. After that you can plant grass, lay sod, etc.

You might want to get your soil tested before you lay the plastic (which btw will literally burn the roots of the weeds). If it is lacking the nutrients needed for a lawn, you'll also need to add compost (I hate commercial fertilizers, they pollute our water) when you plant your grass.

  • We bought a weed killer for about $10 from lowes to kill the weeds. You hook it to your water hose and spray the yard.
