When did your baby start sleeping good at night

My baby is about a month old and gets up every 3 hours on the dot to eat, when do they usually sleep longer? My mother n law keeps telling me to add a little rice cereal but he is toooo young for that IMO

  • No don't add rice cereal. Mine is 2 weeks and sleeps max 4 hrs with him sleeping 2-3 as more common. IMO its too early to expect them to sleep all night long.

  • All 5 of my kids were sleeping at least 8 hours/night by 2 months, and 11 or so hours at night by 6 months.

  • well my first had colic and cried his eyes out 24/7 so there was never any sleeping long hours at night, my middle child slept like 6 - 8 hours a night after about a month.... this is my 3rd child and so far she is showing no signs of a changing sleeping schedule lol

  • Sounds like a normal baby to me ;). My youngest got up every hour, or less than an hour - it was bad! He didn't sleep more than a couple hours at a time til he was about 2.5 years old. Tell your MIL to stuff the cereal idea, it won't help!

  • Sounds completey normal :) NO rice cereal..its a choking hazard, and an old wives tale that isn't confirmed to work. Mine started sleeping thru the night at 7 months and then teething hit for a month and then he slept again thru the night and then he caught a cold and so on and so forth. :) It's always changing. :)

  • My son is 5 months.. he was waking up twice a night to feed, but always at the same time. So I changd his routine. Feeding him more during the day, and keeping a good routine helps. Eats every four hours naps every four hours from sleep to wake so really hes sleeping 1.5 to 2 hours every 2 hours. and then bed time.. he now sleeps the whole night, except he'll cry sometimes for his soother. I read a book called the Baby Whisperer..totally worked for me. LOVE it!
