Military pay cuts are on the table.

How do you feel about this..knowing many military families already live below the poverty level and depend upon food stamps to put food on the table....all while being willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

  • its upsetting to me. My husband enlisted because he WANTED to. He left college to enlist. Its been a great life for our family so far, and I personally feel that military families sacrifice so much for so very little in return. Its stressful and frustrating. It wont raise morale, and morale is already suffering. They need to think about those deployed, they have enough to worry about without having to worry about if their family will have enough money to make ends meet.

We budget well, but my husband makes roughly 2000 a month before bills. Sure, we get a housing allowance, but so many families end up having to pay out of pocket to make their bills because renters arent military friendly. Its not fair, but life isnt fair. Hopefully it doesnt happen, but I will start saving in case.

  • It makes me absolutely SICK! How about cutting some pork instead of our military pay! Why did we spend $500K on shrimp running on treadmills and other really stupid stuff?

  • Lovely. The soldiers can't just say 'no'. They can't say 'no' to orders. 'No' to friggin shots! They don't get asked to stay late. Hell, us WIVES are sometimes told it's mandatory for us to show up to meetings (deployment meetings), or our husbands have to go. OR work late. I suppose we should be grateful, right?, that they will just cut the pay, instead of NOT paying. Yet, the politicians still get their fat checks. Because, you know, THEY have families to take care of. THEY have cars to pay for, houses to pay for, BILLS TO PAY FOR. Like we don't. We don't need food, or diapers, or gas to get to work and school. Or tampons. Or, OR, gas to get to hospitals out of town because that's where we are sent.
NoBamas wife has spent time with military families, on military bases. She came here. How much time has Gates spent with us? Would he even care? Why does he seem to hate the military so much?

  • The only way this is acceptable is if the CinC gets the first cut ~ and that cut should put HIS pay at an amount that qualifies him for FS. I realize he has too much money of his own to ever really qualify, but he should not get the salary he does and be allowed to send men and women out to face bullets and bombs while their families live on FS. It's beyond a disgrace.

The same goes for congress. They are the ones that need to dump their pay ~ along with their cushy retirement, their security guards, etc.

The possble pay cuts areGATES' ideas. ANd the next guy who will take his place at the end of the month is even more in favor of making cuts. Aim your anger at Gates and Panetta.
Military member do not need a pay cut.How about ending the expensive wars and letting the Military come home to stateside duty?

  • Gert you do know those pay cuts will include that retirement check you get half of don't you? Gates and Panetta are part of Obama's administration. Where is Obama in this? Why didn't he hold up his hand and say no, find something else...I will not short those that serve. Oh yeah, Obama was busy on the getting trashed in Ireland, ignoring protocol at a state dinner and getting in his required rounds of golf.

Obama left Gates in the position he was in and appointed Panetta. They are part of his administration so his hands are not clean on this. Obama could probably punch someone in the face in front of you and you would blame it on someone else. lol

Military member do not need a pay cut.How about ending the expensive wars and letting the Military come home to stateside duty? ~ Minne

Who left Gates in his position? Who is the CinC? Who has control of the purse strings? The problems are congresscritters, a CinC who is a pathetic joke, and the leaders that CinC appointed.

How about you not worry your pretty head about military matters that you know nothing about (obviously starting with the fact that we have bases all over the world that need to be manned ... and that there isn't enough room for our entire military on stateside bases ~ and that is aside from how much I think you would enjoy seeing out military come home saying 'we can't do it ... we lose'.
