Cornmeal to get rid of ants?

Have you heard this? I read this morning that cornmeal is a good ant deterrent. Have you tried it and has it worked?

  • Yep, it worked for me! We had the bigger ants though, not the little sugar ants. Not sure if it works the same for the little ones. Cornmeal, not grits.

  • Yeah, grits are cheap. The ants can not digest it, when they ingest it and it swells, they die. You have to use copious amounts though.

It does not "deter" them, it kills them.

  • I've heard pennies deter them. I've never tried it but it's worth a shot!
