When you have a family portrait taken do you have a professional do it or just a family member or friend? And how do you and your family dress?

  • I've been thinking of getting that done also. We/I think a professional is too expensive and with today's cameras and computer photo programs it's much less expensive and almost as nice.

  • We like the Target Photo Studio near our home. They have very reasonable packages. The key to using a studio..is sales resistance. They will show you lots of extras..you just have to have your mind set on exactly what you will spend. For Christmas photos we dress up. In the summer we try to do something in jeans and either all in the same color shirt or boys in one color ,girls in another . These are far more casual pics.

  • Last FAMILY photo we had done we had 12 people in the photo, had it done at Portrait Innovations were you don't wait weeks for prints you wait a few hours if they are slammed. Everyone wore polo like shirts with collars and jeans.

  • I've had both done. I think the nonprofessional ones look "more real".

  • I wasn't asking if you needed to get one done or not I was asking if you have a professional do it and what you wear.
