My dog has sensitive ears

both of my dogs have very sensitive ears. if someone accidently holds on to them too long when petting them, they will yelp and kind of snap. (even though they have never made contact) their ears are clean, i check them all the time because of this, and they get regular baths etc.... anyone have any suggestions?

  • Are they actually holding onto the dog's ears while petting them? Or just holding the whole dog while petting them? Your question confused me, but that happens a lot! LOL!

No offense, but have you ever let anyone hang onto YOUR ears? Human ears are sensitive, dog ears are sensitve. In fact, with only five pounds of pressure, you can rip a person's ear right off of their head!

No more ear petting, ear holding or whatever. Usually if there is an ear issue, they lick or scratch their ears a lot. Or they will shake their heads. If the inside of the ear is not swollen or red, it's usually ok.

  • Well how long do they hold on to them? Some dogs just do not like having their ears touched, mine doesn't. He like them to be petted, but not held onto. Tell the people not touch the ears and see whats happens. It worked like a charm with mine, and hes happier cause of it.
