  • Ex-RN & had ear troubles & 2 DSs w/ ear troubles!
MUCH LESS SCARRING W/ TUBES THAN W/O THEM IF THE EARDRUMS RUPTURE!!! ALSO, LOTS LESS PAIN!!!
Also, much better for the hearing.

  • I had multiple sets as a child and I only have minimal scarring. They greatly improved my hearing and toned down the amount of ear infections I get.

  • My DD's way of life vastly improved once we had tubes put in. She was constantly sick with ear infections -- it was a nightmare. We had 2 sets --- she is now 4 and doesn't seem to need them anymore! She would've remained a tiny, sickly little thing without them -- and I would be so stressed out! Tubes were the best thing we could've done. She does not seem to have ANY hearing loss at all!

  • I have 2 boys and they both have tubes. My oldest has had 3 sets and he would be deaf by now if he didn't have them. He lost 5% hearing in his right ear from ear infections and that made me decide that it was time to do something. Neither one of mine have had any issues from tubes, but they actually needed them. My kids dr wouldn't even refer them to a specialist until they had had more than 4 ear infections in a six month period. It's ultimately your choice whether your child gets them or not but mine actually did better with them than they would without them.

  • My dd had them put in three times, they would not put them in a fourth time being afraid of hearing loss.
When she was two they started teaching her sign language. She had ear infection after ear infection. From birth until age around age 8.
She still does not listen, but I'm afraid part of that is her age being 12 now.. lol
She does fine in school and seems to have not hearing or speach problems.
She did have speach theropy for about three years.
