Filling out my resume- references question

I know references should not be family members. Problem is, I have been out of work for 10 years. Who should I list?? Thanks!

  • You should use someone who knows your work ethic as well as your personality. If you have done some volunteer work or maybe helped with the church picnic a couple times and worked along side someone who can say what kind of worker you are.   Otherwise family would be your only option.  Good luck!!

  • Can you put your minister? Do you have a career counselor?

  • Are you involved with any school programs (PTA), religious programs, or any community event where people would be able to speak positively about your character. Sometimes it could be a neighbor, or friends. Have you gone to school during that time away from work, you could use a teacher. If you have nobody else, then you can use family.
