When is a best time for a 2yr old to get his/her eyes check?

I'm trying to find another eye doctor for my dh to see. I have noticed that ds has been complaining that his eye hurt(still not talking that good but he can tell you what is hurting). I'm just worried about him. Dh and an uncle have glaucoma, his grandfather is legally blind so I just antsy that he may have a problem.

  • get the primary care doctor to refer him to an opthomalogist. my daughter has been seeing one since 1 yrs old. theres a test done for children that can't read by the dr & if things don't look right the dr does MRI's and other tests to determine the problem. my daughter was diagnosed with an optic nerve problem before age 2 by the opthomalogist doing those things.
