Amelia vs Aimee

My DH and i are stuck between these two names. Our baby girls middle name will be Jean because my mother who passed and his mother both had the same middle name of Jean ironically. We decided we wanted the baby to be named after his late sister whos name was Aimee. Im not a huge fan of it, i think its okay, I like Amelia better and she can be aimee for short. My dh doesnt like Amelia but loves Aimee of course. If we named her Aimee i would most likely chang the spelling to Aymie/ Amy.
So which do you like better?
Amelia Jean
or
Aymie Jean/ Amy Jean

  • Why name her Amelia if you are just going to call her Amy anyways?

I prefer the traditional Amy vs Aimee or Aymie (which I'm guessing most people will not know is Amy)

  • I love Amelia - but beware of the "Amelia Bedelia" jokes. I can't stand "Aimee" spelled that way - Amy is fine, but "Aimee" just rubs me wrong!

  • My cousin's daughter is Aymee, so I am partial to it. But for your husband, you could stick to Aimee and call the baby AJ. Our son is Charles Joseph and we call him CJ.

  • Try sounding out the names with your last name too. DH and I crossed out some of our options that way.
