What advice would you give about praising and rewarding good behavior?

  • Verbal praise and physical affection (hugs, high fives, etc) are the best tools you can use and should be given often.

  • I do as the pp stated. I also add monetary reqards. For school as long as they are good they get $1 if they are bad they dont get that $1. Most of the time mine want to spend it on a drink, or little toy and thats fine. Keep a bucket or something like a shoe box with $1 toys and when they are good (make their bed without asking, take the trash out to help without asking, help with dishes, set the table) let them choose a small toy from the box. I keep bubble gum, suckers, and cheap toys.
