  • I was 2 cm dilated when I went in because my water was leaking.

  • Its not really how far your dialated, but how far apart the contractions are, and how your labor is progressing. I walked around at 4 for 2 weeks before I went into labor.

  • Most hospitals won't admit before 3-4 cm but you really don't want to go too soon because they will start with interventions and those interventions can cause complications in an otherwise complication free pregnancy/labor.

  • Isn't there a chance of infection the further you dilate?

  • I can't talk for all hospitals but if you are contracting and dilating, you can stay if you want....I don't think they would ask you to leave. Carful though I went in 1 cm....they were filling out the discharge papers my water broke and bam 10cm in 5 min no time for drugs it suckkkkkkkkkkkkked.

  • The only time you can get an infection is if your water broke. Dilating and your water bag breaking are two different things.

  • I had to be having a contraction every 5 min for 1 hour to be admitted. I waited 3 and I was at 3.5 cm when I arrived.
