Do you tip when you get carry-out from a restaurant?

  • Yes. Not as much, because typically the person doing carryout is getting a higher rate of pay than waitresses (but still not minimum wage). It's a lot of work to box up the food! I usually do between 10-15% depending on how pleasant they were while I was placing and picking up the order.

  • No, I would not - unless you go there a lot and you do a lot of special orders. My thing is that it is there job, they did not wait on you so I would not unless what I said before applies.

  • No. I'll tip for delivery, I'll tip for table service, but not for prepared food I picked up myself.
