How do you keep birds and crows out of the veggie garden?

we started a garden (veggie) yesterday and just a fe minutes ago I had to scare some birds and grows off because there was tons in our backyard where we started the garden. Is there a way to keep them away?

  • they literally scare the birds away & they do work....

    you can make one with sticks from your yard & old clothing. we used an old volleyball for a face & made it look real ugly....the birds stay far away....

  • Aluminum pie plates tied to your garden fence so that they can rattle & sway in the breeze works well, too. The combination of noise & flashing light (from the sun reflecting off the moving pie plate) scares the birds away.

    Old VHS tape works well, too. You'd need to pull the tape out of its plastic case, then stretch it tightly between the fence posts. When the breeze blows, the tape will hum, scaring the birds & many other critters away.
