How far should this idea go?

W.Bank to suggest CO2 levy on jet, shipping fuel

The World Bank is focusing on a levy on shipping and jet fuels in a report to G20 finance minister in October, among other efforts to keep climate action on track.

To all who support the theory that man made advances are the primary source for climate change: Do you think this will hurt business/industry?  Do you think this should occur in the US?  What about Bureaucrats, Diplomats, and Celebrities who travel with a large entourage, Do you think they should be subjected to a levy? Afterall, many are 'temporarily' shipping, aren't they?

  •  Do you think this will hurt business/industry?

Just a question, if you believed man made advances was causing global warming / climate change....which would be your priority...industry or saving the environment?

  • Do you think this should occur in the US? Only if its found for a fact it would curb anything

What about Bureaucrats, Diplomats, and Celebrities who travel with a large entourage, Do you think they should be subjected to a levy? why would they be exempt?

It's interesting considering the PROFITS made from the global climate change special interest groups/scientists/etc.  They are no better than any other business.

They would be if they could help the environment...not saying they would, not sure enough is known about the outcomes...

but if you knew this could help the environement and help future generations...would it be worth it? (completely hypothetical at this point)

Did Obama pay the "congestion" charge or did they try and state "immunity"? Do you think this WB proposal will be different?

    (1) No one knows 100% without a doubt the primary source for climate change is man made.   (2) no one knows 100% without a doubt this levy would help the environment.  (3) Historically,  What do levy's do for trade/business?

I don't think it will fly , pun intended.

I really think it would be hard to put these in place because of strong lobby groups.

I also don't know that it should since it isn't guaranteed results
