Do consignment shops give you money on the spot?

I have a lot of clothes that dont fit me anymore and I would like to get some money for them but I dont want to have to wait for someone to buy them from me.

  • i think the way it works is you get x amount of money after they sell them....they take a certain percentage and you get the rest. if they don't sell within a certain amount of time you take them back or they may want to sell them. i haven't really seen a shop that does it how you want (like a pawn shop sort of set up). why don't you just have a yardsale lol

  • The ones around here give u a number and put it in a book. Then they put ur number on the tag of the item. Later you go in and they look up ur number and you get part of the money recieved from selling under ur number.

  • You'd want some other sort of 2nd hand store, not a consignment store - to consign means to give them the stuff to sell, and pay you later for what sells.

  • The consignment shops here in Utah don't pay enough to make it worth it,I would get more having a yard sale.
