Sweet tea at 5 months?

my very close friend had her daughter 3 days after i had my son and they're 5 almost 6 months old... she fills up a sippy cup of sweet tea for her daughter as she did with other 2 daughters... Is sweet tea okay for a baby that young?? i wouldnt think so its too much sugar and caffeine. but were trying to settle our argument.

  • Def. not. Caffeine is a stimulant, something a child definately doesnt need, not counting all the sugar thats loaded in sweet tea.

  • Not good at all! Not only because the caffeine but the sugar. My friend fed her young-in apple juice ALL THE TIME and the little girl had so many dental issues by the age of 2!

  • No, it is awful for anybody, let alone a 5 month old,, Why does she think it is healthy for a 5 month old, tell her to call the doctor and see what they think, that should settle it!

  • Just because she can doesn't mean she should.

Baby should only have breastmilk or formula to drink at that age.

  • At five months? Not a good idea.

  • No I would not think that would be okay, and I would never do that for my kids (and one of my kids happens to be 5 months old also)

  • Nothing but breastmilk or formula until 1 (even water), and definitely no sweet tea for a BARE MINIMUM 1 year, but ideally not for a few years.
