how do you get a child to slow down?

he is so active and always running and jumping and is wild but a very bright and smart child. he just keep going and going and never stops he does not eat sweets at all i though people will say that might be it but no it not he hate sweets he just keep going he is in activity after school to no help.

  • Actually, the best way to slow someone down, is to speed him up. Get him involved in activities that include physical movement. Youth centers usually have some great activities available after school. This could also show him where it is okay to be running and jumping - instead of on your furniture, if he's anything like mine. Also, go for a walk, ski, bike, etc - even in the winter, ESPECIALLY in the winter. Keeping active kids active is really a good thing, this may be one of the best ways to help him learn and focus - and slow down when you need him to. Good luck.
