How do you groom your own eyebrows?

I usually go get them waxed but the hairs that I keep tend to get a tad long so I have to trim them but not sure if I should brush them up or down as I trim them.

  • I get mine threaded monthly. I don't trim them cause they have this nice shape when they lay down. But I have seen it done were they brush them up and then cut them kinda like they do hair, making them straight across.

  • I have always tweezed them myself. They looked just fine and it was cheap---just the cost of one pair of tweezers. I used to have a "unibrow"...big eyebrows ,but I started plucking them when I was about 12. I see no reason to get them waxed, threaded (what the heck is that?)etc.

  • Pluck the strays and use an eyebrow scissors (they come in straight, slanted or with built in combs - I prefer the slanted) to trim some of the length of hairs. Straight brows with a slight arch work with most people. Too much of arch or too much plucking ruins the natural shape and beauty. Following are some really good reference sites:

  • threading is taking a twisted piece of soft thread and using the twists to zip multiple hairs off. its like battery free, small scale epilating. tweezing can give you wrinkles, threading does not. =)

  • I tweeze, comb and trim. I put lotion on eyebrows about 10 min before tweezing, they pull out easier. Also open the pores with warm water first. I NEVER shave and I can't believe women still do this. JMO
I don't like waxing, my brow hairs are very course and it really hurts.

  • Trim, wax and tweeze. I've been licensed to do this for 20 years. If your esthetician isn't trimming your brows, she's not being thorough.
