best time to water outdoor potted plants? AM or PM or both??

  • Actually, evening is the best time. Plants absorb the water through their leaves, as well as their roots. When watered in the morning, the sun throughout the day causes the water to eveporate more than provide for the plants. Evening hours give the plants time to absorb the much needed water through their leaves and doesn't dry out the soil so the roots have a better chance at receiving the water.

  • I do mine in the morning. I am in the south so we tend to get afternoon or evening storms so I wait and see if the weather says we will at night. If we dont get a night storm I also water at night.
