Furniture Rental and breaking the lease

What happens if someone rents furniture and can't pay for OR return the furniture?

Details: A woman and her boyfriend decide to move in together, they go to Rooms to Go to furnish their house. A month or so later, they break up. He leaves while she is at work and takes half the stuff with him, won't answer her calls and eventually changes his number. She can't afford everything alone, what will happen to her and what can she do about it?

  • Most of the "rent to own" places will take back the furniture with no damage to her credit if she was up to date on payments. If she was leasing it like under a loan, then she could be in trouble.
