What's the policy in public school when it comes to students wearing makeup?

  • The only thing our handbook says is "No make-up in elementary schools. Students wearing make-up that is deemed inappropriate or excessive with be sent to the nurses office for removal. "

  • You would have to check your child's school's handbook regarding the dress code & if there is one for make-up, as it will vary from school to school.

  • I agree w/ mom2aspciboy- check your parent/student handbook or your school's website. I dont recall my kids' school addressing make-up specificially, but had addressed unnatural hair dyes & facial piercings. (Anything that could be considered a distraction) Personally, if the child is between 9 -12 (the category your chose to post your ques), that's a bit young to be worrying about the topic of make up (except for maybe lip gloss).

  • I know your question is about public school, but the Catholic school I went to for junior high and high school had explicit rules about wearing too much makeup.
