Swimming pool garden?

my husband wants to plant a little garden in a swimming pool with our girls. Has anyone every done one? WHat do I need besides soil, a small pool, and flowers. BTW if we planted some seeds right now, would they grow in this dreaded heat?

  • have no idea but great idea. we have a small kiddie pool that has a huge crack in it, that would be great for planting flowers. thanks :) and as far as planting seeds in this heat, im thinking they should do ok. i planted some seeds in a small flower pot and have it outside and so far they are doing great. i go out every morning and every night and spray with a spray bottle that has a fertilizer solution in it. im notorious for killing plants in pots cause i either over water or dont water enough so far the spray bottle approach has been workin. the only time i had plants/flowers die outside is when i watered when it was the hottest out. so as long as u water early in the morn or late at night when its cooler and less sun u should do ok. good luck

  • I read the question that you are planting things inside of the old swimming pool? If so, you will want to drill holes for drainage so you don't water the plants and then drown them.

  • Sounds interesting to me. Never heard of a 'swimming pool garden". I searched it but couldn't find anything....everything was related to swimming pool garden "design". As in...making a garden around a swimming pool.

Is there a link or something?
Ugh, here I am asking questions rather than answering your original question. LOL, I'm curious about it though and it sounds completely fun!

  • Here are a couple links I found. They seem pretty easy to do. We bought a pool, potting mix, and different full sun flowers. My husband and daughters are gonna plant it tomorrow. I will post pictures.
