Are mosquitoes bad where you are this year?

They just seem extra bad here this year.

  • This year for us...they aren't too bad. We purchased "Mosquito plants" this spring for our porch and I really think they work! Other than that...we're about 4 inches behind on rainfall, we're in a drought and I attribute it partly to that too. I make sure there is NO water sitting in anything in our yard. Like, old buckets, or watering cans with water in them I've forgotten about somewhere because mosquitoes LOVE to lay their eggs in it. Before you know it....you're hatching out 1,000's of mosquitoes and they will eat you ALIVE. LOL.
Just an fyi kinda thing. Keep an eye out for sitting water.

  • Yes. We get them in NC but this year they seem pretty bad. I have had to do extra things to keep it under control.

  • AWFUL, they are awful here in Maine. We had a very very wet spring, it rained for weeks at a time and now the mosquitos are out looking for food. The kids were almost bathed in bug spray this morning - something the school strongly suggest we do before sending them in.

  • Not so much compared to last year (we lived somewhere much more humid). The lack of water where we are now really seems to cut down on the skeeters.

  • Yes, it is the result of a wetter than normal spring.
