A very good friend of mine just overdosed on st johns wort, is it harmful...

  • good lord how much was she taking? Was she mixing it with other anti-depressants? Is she okay?

  • I am so sorry to hear that. :(

    St. John's Wort is toted as the "natural" Prozac, but it is actually a very serious herb. It has been known to thin the blood too much.

  • She just took 30 of them with a load of sertraline tablets.... her dad is taking her to hospital i believe, been trying to phone her since she told me with no reply.

  • SInce you are currently "in" the situation . ..

    A lot of times, the hospitals will stabalize the ODs and send them home. If you have a chance to talk with her Dad or family, mention to them that it may be a good thing to push with her case manager to put her inpatient somewhere for treatment. She will certainly have a psych consult while she is there . . .
