My 4 year old son has recently been holding his poop in (standing up) in the bathroom until it is too late to go in the toilet. His poop usually ends up on the floor and he than tries to pick it up and put it in the toilet. I have tried explaining to him that poop goes into the toilet but he still does the same thing. He has been potty trained for almost 2 years now. He recently had tubes put in his ears and so he is more sensitive to hearing and I am wondering if the sound of the toilet now scares him? Any thoughts, suggestions, comments? HELP!Answer Question

At 4, he should be able to verbalize what the problem is. It could very well be the sound of the poop hitting the water or the splash of the water hitting his bottom. You might see if a kid potty without water would get him pooping...well it would be easier to clean than the floor.
