  • Well, no. Are we going to start putting teenagers in prison for sexting now? Sure, it's stupid, it's immature and could very well ruin their professional futures...........but a crime worthy of felony charges? Definitely not. They're not hurting anyone but themselves when they do it. Society is a bit ridiculous. Can we say police state? ...getting arrested for a sending a pic of a boob to a boyfriend.....absolutely ridiculous. They should be grounded, not thrown in prison.

  • I don't think sexting is illegal if it doesn't include pictures.

  • Depends, if one is of age (18/19...still teenagers) is sexting to a minor (16 and younger), then yes. And yes, I skipped 17 for a reason...such a weird age...in some states, its legal, in others, its not. So with that, it would depend on the state.

But felony? Also depends on the content of the texts/pictures. Extremely explicit (aka genitals) yes, but boobs? No. If guys can show off their chests, why can't females? And, boobs are OK for PG-13, right?

They should have their cell phones taken away and be not allowed to use any mobile device for a specified period of time, or they get jail time. Hackers get their computers taken away and if they are found to be using one for any purpose, they are thrown in jail.

  • If they are old enough to know better then yes. It is common knowledge anymore that sexting can lead to prosecution and or the pictures ending up all over the internet. They know better they are just hoping they will not be the one who gets caught.

  • No? That's ridiculous. They know the risks- and if their pictures end up online, no one is hurt but themselves. Maybe a misdemeanor charge if they post the other's photo without permission?

  • No, not a felony. But, since sexting runs the gamut of talk to photos, why would the talk be considered a felony as well a photos? I think the only time charges should be pressed is when an adult is found sexting to a minor, and in that case, YES, a felony. Or when lewd photos are sent. I'm talking genitals, not just boobs.

  • If they are below the age of consent. More to the point, the parent who owns the phone and the contract on the service allowing the texting should. And something people should keep in mind before they give their precious little snowflakes free reign to do whatever they want, whenever they want.

Like it or not, it's child porn, and there is NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING to prevent the recipient of a text from forwarding it. There is no secure transmission. It's no different than taking that pic and posting it directly on the internet.
