why my 5 year old burps at night

she goes to bed and after 1-2 hours she wakes up, crying coughing and together with the coughing burping, it seems the burps come from very deep. her meal at night is light. maybe she doesnt breath right and takes a lot of air inside...i dont know.. i hope you have an answer for me.   • Maybe acid reflux? thats my first thought, maybe have her take a tums before bed that might help.

  • Sounds like reflux to me, too. Limit foods just before bedtime, and try elevating the head of her bed. Talk to doc, she might need meds.

  • If there is coughing and burping, you might want to ask your doctor about asthma too, coughing is often worse at night, and can be so bad that they vomit, but if there is nothing to come up, it can sound like burping. I would take her to the doctor.

  • For coughing, I'd try a cool mist humidifier. It really helps with my son's coughs due to allergies. IDK about the burping.

  • I thought reflux too, possible asthma. I would honestly consult her Dr and they give you no answers try another. GOod luck
