If a tree fell in a forest and no one else was around to hear it would it still make a sound?

  • It would make sound waves....but it is the ear that turns those waves into noise.

At least that is the theory. I guess there's no way to actually know for sure since if no one is around to hear it, no one will ever know...right?

  • Of course. The vibration of the collission will produce sound waves, whether anyone is around to hear it or not.

  • The compression waves we interpret as sound would still be generated.

  • I know seriously this was a joke question, but now it has me thinking cause sound it communicated through the brain and precieved...so I am starting to think if no one was around then it wouldn't right? But then again this is life or death question just a brain teaser LOL
