  • I think 35 a day is adequate for one child. I live in TX and that is the going rate around here.

  • Kristy, why don't you just negotiate a per week rate with a babysitter?

  • I paid daycare approximately $30/day for each kid...I had two kids there so $60/day. Luckily we are down to only one there now and he only goes 4 days a week. Most in home babysitters in my area charge $10/hour so we couldn't afford it.

  • Let me clarify...the in home babysitters that are charging $10/hour are the ones that come to your house. The ones that you take your kids to their houses charge much less, but I had a real bad experience with that.

  • I think it varies, my brother lives in Chicago and pays his sitter $325/ week for a newborn and they take her to the sitter.
I live in Indiana and I pay my sitter $2/hour per child so it is about $160/week.

  • I paid $26/day ($137/wk) for FT M-F care, with a licensed, educated home DCP. That was a great rate.
