Bugs in my houseplants! Need help!

We have three new houseplants. They are gorgeous, but . . . . one of them came in the house with some tiny black flying critters which have been super-lucky in the reproduction game.

Much to my dismay.

So, what now? Do I need to put the plants outdoors or is there something I can do to kill those nasty buggers?

  • A cousin of mine had success with putting the household cleanser "Comet" crystals on the soil beneath her plant that was infested. DO NOT WATER THE PLANT, or you'll likely kill it. She said the bugs were gone in a few weeks. Then you just sweep away the Comet crystals.

  • I mix dish soap & water in a spray bottle & spray the plant.

Also - set them outside for a day or so - the bugs should fly away.

  • Put them outdoors for now. You can buy a houseplant bug spray if PP's suggestion doesn't work.
