So I looked down there...

and everything looks normal (thank god)! I don't know what I was expecting, gashes, deformities, who knows after the way my daughter came out LOL. Anyway, I can't seem to find any stitches, but I still have some pain down there as well as a pulling feeling every once in a while which makes me think there may still be some that haven't dissolved. I'm at 4 weeks postpartum by the way. I was wondering if there are still stitches that I'm just not seeing, if they're still there by my 6wk check up, will the doctor remove them? Even if for some reason I'm not cleared to have sex, I'd still like to be intimate with my hubby in other ways without worrying about messing up stitches. Did anyone else still have stitches at their check up?

  • With my first, I made the unfortunate mistake of looking there with a mirror three days after he was born. I was absolutely horrified! I looked again a week later and I was so relieved that things were going back to normal. I can't remember when the stitches dissolved.

  • Julie...I told myself that I wouldn't look at all, but then I figured I better look before hubby does just to make sure things are all squared away haha. But ya I don't know exactly HOW many stitches I had to get, only that I was there for a looong time. I'll have my doctor remind me at my appointment. I'm sure it's a lot though. She was 8 1/2 pounds and her arm/shoulder came out at the same time her head did :| Very painful! I was seriously so surprised that my area looks completely the same. I'll have to thank my doctor lol.

  • They use dissolveable sp? stitches, they are gone by about 3 weeks. You most likely only got one or two stitches. I had sex with hubby after 3 weeks and it felt weird so, we waited 1 more week and then it was fine.

  • Are you sure they were all on the "outside"? Maybe you have a few just inside?
