IRS Question, so stressed

Does anyone know if the IRS garnishes on a weekly or monthly basis? Embarrassing as this is...It is happening to us. They took out 180 dollars of a 700 dollar (Gross) paycheck and I get paid weekly. I had set up payment plans...but I missed two mo's...I have so many expenses! No excuse I know...but I can't find out anything until Monday. I'm so stressed out. 180 a week...OMG....... I average anywhere from 500- 700 a week...... I owe like 3,200

  • I don't know about wages being garnished. Dh and I are both self-employed so when we missed some monthly payments they put a levy on our savings/checking account. We called as soon as we could and made new payment arrangements and the levy was taken off. Hopefully for you, you can do the same. Make new arrangements and then they will stop taking your wages. Whenever we have had issues they are usually very nice. When we made payment arrangement (about a year ago) we could not pay monthly what they wanted. They gave us a way lower amount for a year. We are now waiting for a letter to renegotiate what we will pay monthly. We also owe more than you. After the refund we got this year which went towards our balance we now owe, $7600. Good luck to you.

  • They will garnish every pay check that amount unless you call and make arrangements.
