Small town fun =)

If you live in a rural small town area where are you? What kind of things does your small town have to do?

Me I live in Unity, Maine & the things to do here are we have a settlement of Amish & they have a store that we shop at. The other thing is the Alpaca Farm & the people are super nice there we can go & just watch/look at the animals & play. Oh yeah once a year we have the Common Ground Fair but I personally havent been in many years, may go this year though now that my daughter is old enough to enjoy it.

So share your small town fun! What do you do?

  • This weekend our town is holding a "Festival on the trails". Its where people sing on an outdoor stage and people sit around and eat hotdogs, funnel cakes, etc. We also have a County Fair held here with lots of animals, fun foods, rides, and arena activities.

  • i don't live in a small town "per-se" but i live in the outskirts of the city (Tampa, FL). i like it here because it's only a half hour drive to the city, where there is of course the city-life, aquarium, zoo, and all that stuff, but then there's also the bridges that connect to the beach which is another 15 minutes or so. directly in my town though there isn't much, there is a big family-fun center that has a bowling alley, pool tables, game room, a few restaurants, but nothing major. the mall isn't in my city but it's in the next city over, maybe 10 minute drive, and in that city there's more stuff to do like Chuck E Cheese, mini-golf.

  • I live in a small town and there is literally nothing to do here. We don't have a movie theater or a skating rink. We have a pool and a library. There are no festivals or fairs, nothing.

  • Uhhh...we drive to neighboring cities to do anything, lol! Our town has a pool (outdoor, so summer only)...once in a while there will be some sort of community dinner or something...yeah, we don't do anything. Our town is 700 and pretty sad.

  • I live in a small rural Texas town. Once a year we have the Heritage Gathering which his a festival that includes running a huge herd of Texas Longhorn cattle through town via Main Street all the way to the fairgrounds/pens outside of town. There is also a Lavender Farm not too far away in the country, we have Market Days 1st Saturday of every month (warm months) which has over 250 booths of handmade items. Everything from handmade leather furniture, handbags to painted handmade birdhouses, jewlry, handwoven rugs,...just any crafted item really. Our town is full of antique shops too.

  • Anything that is low key - no crowds, fits the bill living out in the country.

  • i live in a small town in northern CA we have a pool , bowling alley, a lake about 10minute drive away and a college town about 20minute drive away....we have farmers markets in the park , music fesivals, county fair, parades (about 3 a year) and so forth....i think living in a small town is what you make of it .....we stay buzy by attending summer camps, finding local deals on movies (have to drive 20minutes to the next town) and other fun events....
