What in your house doesn't work?

What do you have in your house that is broken that you either don't know how to fix or can't afford to fix? I need to feel better about myself.

Currently I have a...

Upstairs shower
Cold Water Spigot On The Kitchen Sink
Two Lights In The Barn
The Phone In The Barn
The Toaster
One burner on the stove

...That do not work.

What about you?

  • Most of these things can be fixed by researching in the Reader's Digest Guide to Home Repair.

At my house it is my husband that doesn't work.

the light in the fridge no matter how many times we replace the bulb
the sliding closet doors in both bedrooms keep coming off the tracks so I finally just took the doors completely off and they are now in the garage =)

Oh and I locked myself out of the bedroom a few months ago and had to break down the door so now the door is all wonky

  • At our DH is gone for 2 weeks at a time (which means he's home abt 4 days a month :-(,,,alot of stuff doesn't get fixed and I've learned over time that I CAN make repairs myself...I get online & research what's wrong first and go from there...I will tell you what I HAVE fixed first...

I have fixed a thermal fuse in my dryer,
I have fixed a blown fuse in my microwave
I have fixed numerous toilet clogs from outside capped line
I have replaced dead battery on the car
I have fixed a drainage problem from our a/c unit in the attic
I have fixed a constantly squeaking vent fan on top of the roof

I cannot fix 3 leaking water spigots outside...they drive me nuts but I'm not good with plumbing junk!!
I cannot fix my dishwasher (had to call a repair man)

I think that's all that's broken right now. But I've had to learn to either TRY to do it or do without because there are is no family or to call.

  • The overhead light in my daughter's room. And my kitchen faucet leaks. It's not that I can't afford to fix it. It's that I rent, and it's the land lord's responsibility. I really need to call him and remind him that these things need fixing....
