3 yr old tantrums

So my 3 yr old DS used to be so helpful and would listen and ask nicely. Lately he yells punches the wall, kicks, screams, blows raspberries, lays on the floor in the middle of the store, hits his sister.......and so on. I have no idea where this behavior came from. Is anyone else going through this? What can I do?

  • I find timeouts work best. Removal from the situation that has caused the tantrum gives them some time to calm down. Then, when they are done with the tantrum, I talk it out with them.

  • Be consistent with what is and is not allowed. They go through phases and it will pass. Stay matter of fact and calm.
