What does a college tutor make an hour?

I've offered to tutor someone, but I have NO idea what the going rate is for a tutor. This is for an anatomy course (pre-nursing). $30/hr? $50/hr? Thanks!

  • Maybe a call to the life sciences department at your nearby college could give some insight into what people charge for tutoring in the subject.

  • I would call the Department of Labor to find out.

  • I have no idea. I tutor through the college, but it's not private tutoring... So... I don't make anywhere NEAR that much. GL

  • You might get some ideas at the Wyzant tutoring website. Also I saw an ad on craiglist for a elementary grade school tutor who was charging 50/hr. You might do a search there to see rates. Plus and have tutors listed. Use the pulldown and you will see their ads. GL

  • We paid a tutor $60 per hour in HS.

  • That sounds about right, but the tutors at my college are all FREE to students so I have no idea what they are actually paid. I am thinking they are work study positions.
