What's your opinion on self-inducing labor?

Such as eating spicy foods, sex, nipple stimulation, walking, acupressure...

  • Self-Inducing labor? You mean when the women has gone beyond 40 weeks and no signs of labor?

  • Having sex, nipple stimulation and eating spicy food-if you like spicy food-are all great things. They will only stimulate labor if you are ready to go into labor. The acupressure should only be done if you are 40 weeks or more along. Good luck!

  • Hell if it works and its time for the baby to come..why not give it a shot. I hear sex is the best way though.

  • I've heard that none of that works. The only thing that comes close is stimulating the nipples and thats still questionable at best. And as mentioned above it only works if your body is ready for labor. If your cervix isnt ready than you'll be wasting your time.

  • I waffle on this question. If there were a way to tell thru x-ray vision that baby is fully matured/developed then I think I'd be all for it. But alas we can't...and I worry that baby might have needed that extra week or two.
